Mere Brook House

We had our family Christmas weekend at Mere Brook House for the second year running, with everyone from 9 to 79. It's a gorgeous house with beautiful grounds, and staff were very helpful. There's easy access to the major routes, and the rooms are all different, so there's a good choice. Various booking options are available, with details on the Website. Definitely recommend.

The owner was so friendly and took great care of us. We'd booked for one night, but there was a mix-up and we were given another room with similar facilities to the one we'd requested. The owner let us use both rooms, which felt incredibly welcoming. The whole property is amazing, and the location is lovely. Outside, the morning birdsong made everything feel calm and peaceful. The facilities felt like a cosy home with a touch of luxury, and I loved the free self-service breakfast. There's plenty of rooms to enjoy, and the decor, room facilities and cleanliness were all 10/10. I've stayed in lots of hotels, and this is one of my favourites.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and the shower was great. Service was magnificent, and the staff were so helpful and accommodating with my toddler. It's easy to find just off the motorway. Couldn't have asked for a better overnight stay. Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be back!

The breakfast was very poor, nowhere near what you'd expect from a place like this. Though the room looked nice, two sensors with red and green lights kept blinking, making it impossible to rest. On arrival we were made to use the back door because a private event was being held. I found it unacceptable that an outside event seemed to take priority over paying guests, who deserve the same treatment and access to the main facilities. What looked set to be a great stay turned into a frustrating one. It looks good on the surface, but failed on service, sleep and food. I wouldn't recommend it.
