Havisham House

Our host was amazing, and the accommodation is excellent quality. The village is beautiful and historic, with gorgeous views and plenty of lovely places to eat and visit. Definitely recommend!

The award winning garden is gorgeous, and the place is a treat if you love art, antiques and design. Adam has exquisite taste, with thoughtful decor and so much attention to comfort and detail. Everything guests might need seems to have been considered. It's spotless and feels like a 5 star hotel for cleanliness and opulence, but still like home when it comes to comfort and welcome. Adam is always such a welcoming host, and I felt at home straight away in the luxurious surroundings.

The check-in closed at 9pm, and I couldn't arrive before 10pm, but I hadn't noticed that when booking. Just six minutes after paying for the night, I realised my mistake and asked to cancel and get a refund. Booking.com was prepared to refund me, but Adam blocked it. I could understand if I had waited hours or days to contact them, but it was only minutes. A terrible customer experience. In response to the Havisham House comment, I want to correct the record. I booked by mistake and got in touch within minutes because my arrival would be after the 9pm check-in cutoff. I didn't ignore the policy. Saying I hounded you is unfair. I only followed up after the first refusal, hoping for a good-faith resolution. A reasonable goodwill cancellation would have settled this quickly.

The garden is a lush green oasis, with spots for quiet time or company depending on your mood. Havisham House is pristine and comfortable, blending modern comforts with a rustic feel. There's a remarkable layout, with different staircases leading to beautifully decorated rooms, each one unique. Adam and Erica's guest house really is Woburn's pride and joy. So many lovely details throughout. Most of the furniture, including the beds and striking headboards, is handmade from wood. Adam's creative eye shows in the art, prints, paintings and sculptures. What a treat, and there's nothing locally to compete. As a renowned architect once said, "God is in the details," and Havisham House seems to live by that. You'd be a fool not to stay.
