Addison House

The location was very central, and both the room and bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable too. But we hardly saw any staff: just one person on the night we arrived, across our four-day stay. There was no hairdryer or iron, and housekeeping didn’t come for the first three days. We were left one tube of body wash and two conditioners. The shared kitchen had almost no cups or glasses, and the bathroom had no mat. Our tiny bedroom had a child-sized wardrobe and one swivel chair, and the stairs were very steep. Outside noise at night was incredible. We’re in our late 60s, and knowing what it was like, we wouldn’t have booked it.

The pubs and nightclubs right below our room kept us awake until 3am. With no double glazing, they sounded even closer. I couldn’t find the receptionist to raise the problem with. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but this was the noisiest place I’ve ever stayed. Very disappointing.

It’s right in the town centre, with plenty to do and lots of places to eat. The room and street view were nice, and it seems well suited to couples. With children or if you need a quiet night, I’d avoid it.

Alibeth and Tommy made us feel so welcome and did more than expected to help us enjoy our stay. The rooms were clean, had what we needed, and were just the right size. This was exactly what we were looking for.
