The Bull Hotel Restaurant

Thank you, Sarah. The staff were attentive, polite and always smiling, and we had an excellent meal in peaceful surroundings. Room 3 was lovely too. I've run my own business for 36 years, so I know how hard it can be to get things right. The place is popular and has nice clientele, which says a lot. This wasn't our first visit, and we'll be back.

The room had a lovely view over the town square, and the location was great. It was beautifully decorated, and the homemade biscuits with the tea and coffee were a nice touch. The food was incredible, and the staff were helpful and polite. Looking forward to coming back soon.

The food was excellent and fairly priced, and there was a good selection of cask ale in good condition. The drink prices, though, were very high. I'm in CAMRA and often pay around £4-£4.50 a pint at good pubs in the area, including rural Suffolk CAMRA-listed places like this. One of my favourites charges £3.50 for excellent cask beer. Here the best was over £5.50 a pint, which felt ridiculous, like Southwold. Landlord seems oddly expensive everywhere, though I don't rate it as highly as Boltmaker. Steer clear of tourist traps and you can find good ale for less. I also found the place very posh, with the Porsche and Range Rover crowd, and felt out of place as an ordinary visitor. The prices should be displayed, possibly by law, though maybe the clientele are wealthy enough not to ask. I appreciated the detailed, polite reply and on reflection I was a bit harsh. I stand by my comments about the prices, but I've changed my rating to four stars because of the response and the quality of the food and ale. It's good that the prices are now displayed, since asking can feel awkward. Congratulations on the CAMRA award. It should be about ale quality, and I have no complaints about that.

The room was warm when I arrived, and the bed was genuinely comfortable. The staff were professional, the food was amazing, and even the house glass of white wine was excellent quality. Fantastic pub, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're staying in Woodbridge.
