Muthu Clumber Park Hotel and Spa

There are plenty of nice places to sit in reception, from quieter corners to livelier spots, so it’s easy to find somewhere to relax. The whole hotel was clean, including the rooms, bathrooms and spa. The staff were lovely and helpful. We were a family of three and are familiar with people who may have additional needs. I’d recommend the place to couples, groups, families and people with additional needs. If you use a wheelchair, check with reception first, as some of the access might be a little tricky. The pool is 1.2m deep and around 6x10m, perhaps a little bigger, with a jacuzzi connected to it. There’s also a steam room and sauna beside the pool. Both are nice, though a light scent such as eucalyptus would make the steam room and sauna even nicer. The rooms are a decent size and nice, but fairly basic. There’s room for more storage, like a couple of shelves, and a drying rack would be useful.

Clumber Park is right across the road, so you can head out for a walk from the front door. The downside of the setting is that you need to drive to reach any nearby amenities. The food was excellent and good value, both at breakfast and for our evening meal. The weekend staff were attentive and polite. Our room had coffee facilities, two large bottles of water, an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, plus a bath and shower. It was warm, actually too warm for us, so we had to turn it off. We enjoyed the spa and its facilities, and I expect they’ll be pristine after the February refurbishment. It’s a lovely hotel, and not too big.

We had such a great stay. The room was cosy and spacious, just what we wanted, and the food, staff and facilities were all amazing. Couldn’t be happier, five stars! We’ll definitely be back. 🙂

The hotel was brilliant value for money, and the food was excellent. Our room was beautiful and had everything we needed. The staff were awesome and helpful, and the restaurant felt welcoming. The spa was modern and clean, with a lovely pool temperature, sauna and steam room. A few things could improve it. The steam room is missing some mosaic tiles, another hairdryer would help, and a couple of chairs in the changing rooms would be useful. The spa showers run hot, so hot and cold indicator stickers would help. In the dining room, tablecloths might cover the worn looking tables. The seating for staff could look more professional, and the doors could use a lick of paint. The restaurant walls feel dated and a bit too busy with all the pictures, so they could do with a repaint and clearing some of them off. These are small things, though. Worth a stay.
