We stopped in hoping for a Sunday roast, but that wasn't available, so we stayed for a bite from the menu instead. The customers and staff were really friendly, especially our waiter, the pub dog. The Grade II listed pub is having some renovation work done. It'd be good to come back in 12 months.

We called in on the way home and enjoyed the carvery. There was plenty of tasty, well-cooked food, with seconds if you can manage them, and then a sweet. Nice people, a good atmosphere, and excellent value. Shame we live 200 miles away.

Saturday night live entertainment seems to happen fairly regularly, and the food is great. The staff are friendly too. The owners, Colin and Carrie, are lovely and have plenty of stories to tell. You can see how much work they've put into the place since buying it last year. Fantastic pub.

There's a garden and room for children, with ample parking, and it's close to Sherborne, Yeovil and Yeovilton. Doom Bar is my favourite pint, and it's great that the skittle alley is still there, as those are getting rare. The place is just getting established, but feels warm and welcoming. Food menu to come.
