Paul, the owner, went above and beyond when we booked directly on the website, sending us all the information we needed and then some. Number 42 Holgate is a lovely place, and the city is an easy 10-minute stroll away. My family and I will definitely return. I'd recommend it to anyone.

We spent Christmas here and felt right at home, thanks in part to the thoughtful decorations. They even surprised us with wrapped gifts from The White Company and Hotel Chocolat, such an unexpected treat. The rental was spotlessly clean and had everything we could need. We had a fantastic stay and highly recommend it.

Everyone had a wow moment walking into No 42. The stylish decor has a cosy feel and a cheeky, fun touch, and the house was spotless, with crisp linens and fluffy towels. It had everything we needed for a family weekend. We also loved the short walk into York's sights, passing little bars and restaurants along the way. We all agreed we'd come back to this special house.

We've stayed here before and will definitely be back. The moment you step through the front door, the house makes an impression. It's decorated beautifully, with a tasteful but fun feel, and is ideally placed in York. We couldn't have asked for anything better. If there were six stars, we'd give them.
