Farthings felt like a home away from home, full of whimsy and nostalgia. I loved the furniture and the cosy bed looking out at the rain. The host was welcoming and attentive throughout our stay, and breakfast was a great way to end our York trip. We highly recommend it. Thanks so much, Farthings, and hopefully we’ll be back soon!

The shared bathrooms are the main downside for many travellers, and may be more of an issue for female guests. With the building’s age and layout, I can see there’s very little that could realistically be done about it. Otherwise, it’s a quaint guesthouse I’d highly recommend. The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable, and the exceptional breakfast comes with lovely hosting.

The hotel is only a short walk from the city walls, with a few bars and restaurants just minutes away. The room was really nice, and the staff were very friendly. I did need to let the property know in advance that I’d be arriving by car.

We had a comfy twin room and found the staff really friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us. The location was nice, and breakfast in the morning was a great little treat.
