Bay Horse

We dropped in for lunch and had a really good meal. The veggie fajitas were so tasty, and the homemade meat pie was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and chatty, too. Would definitely recommend it.

A pleasant old-fashioned pub with a friendly feel and fair prices. I had a very good vegan burger on Friday, along with a few pints of decent cask bitter.

We’re very local and had used this pub a few times. When my three-year-old needed the toilet, I asked the women behind the bar if he could use it. They said we had to buy a drink, and he wet himself. Most of the staff are lovely and personable, which makes this even more disappointing. Please use some common sense with the toilet rule. We won’t be coming back.

The staff were wonderful and quick to respond whenever I needed something. Just be aware that you can’t check in early, since the doors don’t open until 2:00 p.m. This is a distinctive place to stay in York, in a historic building above a lovely pub with a full bar, a wide beer selection, and a restaurant. My room was very nice, with a comfortable bed, a good-sized bathroom, and a desk area. Room 3 has a rather low ceiling, which was fine for me at 5'5", but could be an issue for a taller person. I’d highly recommend it.
