We'd stay again if we're in York. It was a comfortable bed and a brilliant en-suite, and the room was good for the price for a night. Two small things for the owners: the extension lead by the wall near the door didn't work, and we had to switch the kettle off ourselves once it boiled. It was a busy day in York, so we didn't get to mention them to staff.

Room 6 was tiny, with no table, chairs or wardrobe, and the hanging space was above the tea-making area, so clothes ended up over the kettle. The staircase felt like a mountain-climbing challenge. The shower room was dirty and rusty, some lights didn't work, and it looked held together with silicone. The central heating was barely warm and the room heater made a racket. There are no facilities at all, and parking isn't free. For the price, this was overpriced. The paint was splattered all over the place, as if someone had decorated without much care. The welcome pack included useful information like being thrown out and fined for having alcohol.

The room was cold because the radiator was off, and the small electric heater couldn't warm it properly. I also had trouble sleeping on the sagging mattress. There was no one at reception, and it took an hour to get a call back. Fixing these things would make a stay much more comfortable.

For one night, it was okay, honestly. The room was tiny and the shower was awful, but we only needed somewhere to sleep. We weren't expecting five-star accommodation for what we paid. It's well placed, about a mile from the centre, and we walked into central York and back without trouble. Fine for a very short stay, but I'd choose somewhere else for more than one night.
