We stayed in a neat, comfortable two-bedroom flat above a bike shop. It’s an old pub that’s been converted into modern, well-decorated flats. Ours had two double beds, so my kids shared. The small kitchen is open plan, and there’s a TV, an Xbox, a big fridge-freezer, plenty of hot water, plus handy bits like detergent and hand soap. I saw the cleaners each day. It’s a short-stay apartment rental in a busy tourist town, not a hotel, and you book online. You enter by keycode, then use a key safe for the flat. The place is along a road, so there’s some noise. There’s an off-road car park, a small Asda and a superb kebab and pizza shop nearby, and the bike shop is worth a look too. The city walls are about 100 metres away. Prices are reasonable. The only issue I can see is for wheelchair users, as all the flats are upstairs. I don’t understand the negative reviews.

I paid £200 for the hotel, but there was no office. The manager was inside, turning a light on and off. I believe this was a scam, so don’t book here.
