Hotel Clementine

Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the staff were so friendly. The Queen room suited me perfectly as a solo guest, with big dispensers of shampoo, body wash, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion. There was a good choice of drinks at the bar and in the room, too. The whole stay felt relaxing and more like home than an average hotel. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in York.

The staff member at reception was lovely and even tracked down a phone charger after we realised we’d forgotten ours. We’ve stayed in a few rooms here, and each has its own style. Room 19 had aubergine colour-washed walls, mustard velvet curtains, tasteful artwork and a great mix of elegant furniture. The bathroom was huge, with an excellent shower. It’s a beautiful place for a York break, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre, so it feels peaceful without being far from everything.

A quiet spot about a 10-minute walk from the city centre, with friendly, very helpful staff. Cameron deserves a special mention. Our room was spotless and had the useful basics, including an iron and board, hair dryer, fridge, plenty of tea and coffee, and what felt like an endless supply of Kit Kats. The handheld shower was leaking and the bedroom’s centre light had a blown bulb, but these were small faults and didn’t spoil our stay. We’d definitely return and recommend Clementines for a restful, welcoming visit to York.

The rooms are really cute, though the walls are thin. We heard a couple arguing around midnight, which isn’t the hotel’s fault, but might be useful to know. The place was super clean, and the staff were very friendly. It’s an easy walk to the station and lots of other sights, and we walked everywhere from here.
