Hotel Indigo York by IHG

The room was clean, stylish and a good size, and the hotel’s central location made it easy to walk everywhere. Parking was the catch. I paid £18.60 a day for a Ringo-type space, which seems reasonable compared with London prices. The hotel has its own parking too, but you can’t book those spaces, and they charge as well. I suppose that’s part of staying so centrally. There was a misunderstanding that led to my room booking being cancelled, but the staff fixed it quickly and offered us free drinks, which we ended up not using. Very nice hotel.

The reception staff were fantastic, welcoming and knowledgeable, and a pleasure to see every time we came and went. The car park is handy, just a two-minute walk from the hotel, though the spaces are tight and overnight parking costs £3 more than the nearby Peel Street car park. We marked the room down because the shower was genuinely no use, with almost no water pressure, and there were no robes. That sounds dramatic, but those were the only things missing from the room 😁

Breakfast had plenty of options and was very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the design gave the hotel more character than a standard chain. It has a modern, cosy feel and a stylish boutique atmosphere. The staff were friendly and professional throughout, and the location made York’s main attractions easy to reach on foot. I’d happily stay at Hotel Indigo York again. Note: the photos are of places around the city, not the hotel.

We were in a spacious premium room with a great bathroom, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We dropped our bags off early on the first day, then found them in our room when we came back. The buffet breakfast was okay, but the poached eggs and sourdough made to order were great. There are loads of restaurants just a few minutes away, and the city centre is only a 5-10 minute walk. A great little hotel in a great spot for our couple of nights in the city.
