Everything was close enough to walk to, and getting into York city centre took about 10 minutes. The Premier Inn worked really well for my trip, and I’d consider it for either work or social plans in York. We stayed a few nights and had a lovely time. The staff were welcoming and showed us where our rooms were, though they weren’t very informative when we asked about the area. A few people on the night shift came across as a bit rude when we had questions. I’d still happily come back.

The team at the desk were especially helpful and friendly when we arrived, and the hotel bar had a decent range of drinks. Parking worked out fine for us, though the hotel’s own paid car park is small and has limited spaces. There are other parking options nearby. Our room was clean and modern, with working air conditioning, a kettle and basic tea and coffee. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. A very good central hotel, and we had a great stay.

We took the meal deal for £26.99 each, which covered a two-course dinner with a drink and all-you-can-eat breakfast the next morning. We paid an extra £2.99 each for the sirloin steak, and it was well worth it. Dinner service felt relaxed but efficient. David was thoughtful and attentive, and made us feel welcome. The walk from York railway station was an easy 20-25 minutes. They let us check in about 15 minutes before the stated time. Our room was what we expected from a Premier Inn, with the usual tea and coffee setup, a high, comfortable bed, and a nice bathroom with a bath, a deluge shower and a standard shower head. Even though it faced a road, it was extremely quiet, with no traffic noise.

We paid £10 for two nights of parking. The hotel has spaces if you arrive early, but since we got there at 22.15, we had to use the overflow car park across the road, which was good. The city and its attractions were about a 15ish-minute walk away. The place is quite basic, but had what we needed for a short visit. Breakfast was excellent, and the buffet meant you could take as much or as little as you wanted. I’d be happy to stay there again.

It’s about a 10-minute stroll to the centre, and we had a great stay despite ending up on a long hike. If the hotel car park is full, there’s a car park directly opposite. They didn’t mention it, so we nearly parked a mile down the road at Starbucks. It’s a great new Premier Inn. The rooms are clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and have all the bits and bobs you need, including a lovely shower. Reception staff were nice. The breakfast staff, though, looked like they’d rather not be there.
