Breakfast was good, and the staff were very nice. The location was pretty good too, with free parking and bus stops close by for getting into York centre. You can also walk there in around 30-45 minutes. The Doormouse pub next door looked lovely. It was a decent enough stay, as you’d expect from a Premier Inn. Our bed was comfortable and the shower was nice, although it had no door and the floor got a little flooded. The extractor fan wasn’t working and wasn’t fixed during our one-night stay. We reported it, and I assume they’d have sorted it before the next guests.

Caitlin at reception was friendly and welcoming, and offered to help with our bags. The room had everything we needed and was well presented, although a little smaller than rooms we’ve had before. The location worked well for our visit. We spotted a squirrel and a fox, though not at the same time. I’d recommend it.

Alberto checked us in and was amazing, so helpful. He even found us things we’d forgotten to bring. Thanks so much, Alberto. We had a really lovely stay in an immaculate Premier Plus room. We also booked breakfast for both days, and it was honestly the best we’ve had at a Premier Inn, even though we’ve stayed at lots of them. We’ll be back soon.

The breakfast was delicious, as always, and the man running the service was lovely and attentive. He apologised that the hotel was understaffed while handling both breakfast and the front desk. He stayed polite and helpful throughout, and I felt sorry for him. The room was clean enough and had the standard facilities, but the Premier Plus rooms we’d asked for felt as basic as they come. The gentleman who checked me in for the three rooms I’d booked for one night was rude and abrasive. He didn’t ask for my name or booking reference and acted as if checking me in and taking payment were a hassle. The layout was easy to understand, luckily, because he was no help finding our rooms. The hotel was easy to find, and guest parking was free until 11:59pm on checkout day. We walked 40 minutes to the city centre on both days and enjoyed it, though there’s also a bus right outside. On the second day our key card stopped working, so someone had to stay in the room while we packed and loaded the car, or we wouldn’t have been able to get back in. Checkout itself was easy.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and there’s a Park and Ride stop nearby with frequent buses to the city centre. The Dormouse pub next door serves food, as there’s no bar or evening meal at the hotel. It gets very expensive if you’re staying on your own. The shower room is quite small, and there’s no lift or air conditioning. It’s only two storeys, though, with rooms on the ground floor.
