Melissa and Paul were so kind and helpful when our car broke down and wouldn’t start as we were leaving. They kept checking in until we could get on our way home, and we’ll definitely come back. The en suite room on the second floor was lovely, comfortable, and very peaceful. Beckett House is an ideal base, a short walk from York centre, with a small supermarket and takeaways along the way. We’d arranged parking outside for £5 per 24 hours, which was sorted when we arrived, and Melissa was there to welcome us. The whole stay was perfect, and they’re really lovely people.

The area was lovely and quiet, and getting around was easy, about 20 minutes from the train station and 10 from the Minster. The room was clean, smelled nice, and had good wifi. The beds were low and soft, really comfortable. The owner was friendly and helpful. I’ll book here again next time I stay in York.

Melissa was lovely and welcoming, and the room itself was quiet and good. The location is charming and peaceful, just a 10-minute walk from the centre. The bathroom and shower could have been cleaned better. Also, the mattress in room 2 had a hole on one side, which made it hard to sleep comfortably.

York city centre is only a 10-minute walk away, and I could even keep my bike safely in the gateway. The host welcomed me in a very spontaneous, practical way. Some of the facilities may be dated, but the room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, and there was a spacious, clean, pleasant bathroom next door.

We had a lovely two-day stay and would happily come back to Beckett. It’s in a quiet area, and the room had everything we needed to be comfortable. The owner was lovely and welcoming, and recommended the Hole in the Wall pub, where we had a great meal with friendly staff.
