It’s about a five-minute walk to York race track, though the two-way road outside is very narrow, so take care. The house has a good amount of space, but the smart setup felt like too much. You need to scan a code to read the instructions, which could be hard if you don’t have a smartphone; we also struggled with the lights and couldn’t change the music. Some people may find the system difficult. The place needed a better clean. There was dust in easy-to-reach spots, damp patches on the walls, cobwebs above the fridge, and dirt behind the sofa. The sofa was propped up with a piece of wood and a book. The microwave was in really bad shape inside and had marks on the door. The kitchen sink kept dripping, and the toilet leaked when flushed, which we reported. The bed wasn’t comfortable, and the curtains didn’t fit well. We were there for a family event. At 23.30, while we were sitting and talking quietly, the people next door at 29 banged on the wall. We weren’t making noise, and it left us feeling uncomfortable. This place will come down to personal opinion.

The house was very easy to find, clean, and had some lovely thoughtful touches. We slept well in the comfortable beds and would be happy to stay again, even though this visit was just one night. We did have trouble with the sound: there was no audio for a film in the lounge, and no music in any room. Also, agoda, the company we booked through, never emailed the arrival details or entry code. That was really disappointing, and I won’t book with them again.

There seem to be damp issues, and it really needs a deep clean. The place also felt too techy to be comfortable. We were talking quietly and listening to music at 23.45 when the idiots next door started banging on the wall. Not what you want. Some people need to understand that life matters.

I was in the area for work and stayed a couple of nights. There’s loads of room to relax, and the quirky design details and features are cool. The smart home system was fantastic, I’m converted! I’d definitely book again if I’m back around York. Give it a try, you won’t regret it 👍

We were headed to the Racecourse, just 150 yards away. The rooms are modern and stylish, and the facilities were excellent. The tech controls took us a little while to figure out, though our average age was 60!
