The Watergate Inn

The pub is right in the city centre, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I stayed in one of the rooms behind the pub. I’d read the reviews, but unlike some others, I had no problems with my room. Everything was clean. Meals cost extra, so I just had the reasonably priced breakfast. The only issue was the thin walls. At night I could hear the man in the room below snoring and taps running, though the noise wasn’t too bad overall. I couldn’t hear the pub.

The food was great, and the hotel/pub was lovely. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It’s right by the river, and the location for the city was spot on.

14th to 16th april 2026 We stayed for a couple of nights away with the hubby, and the staff were really lovely, always doing what they could to make the stay more pleasant. It’s in an ideal spot right beside the river, with secure parking and shops, bars and restaurants very close by. We ended up eating at the Watergate and were glad we did. The food was tasty, plentiful and freshly cooked. Our room was clean, the bed comfy, and the bathroom clean with loads of hot water. We’ll definitely stay again and recommend the place. The staff were lovely and polite, and my friend’s breakfast was great. The room wasn’t as attractive as the pictures, and there was a gap between the carpet and the door. The walls were very thin, so you could hear everything, including dogs. The corridors smelled very strongly of weed. It’s an alright place for about one night if you don’t care much about the details.
