Castello Mare Hotel & Wellness Resort

With our 1.5-year-old son, we spent a week in a premium room on the all-inclusive plan, and it was our best family holiday so far. The room was nicely designed without the flashy feel of a suite, and the kids room gave us a bit of breathing space. The setting above the sea is dramatic and peaceful, with breathtaking views from the cliff. We loved not having to think about meals or costs. The food was much better than expected, especially the baked trout, deboned perfectly, which was new to me. The spa was excellent too, and weekday visits were quiet. Thanks, Castello Mare. We'd love to come back.

The spa and breakfast were okay, and the location was fine, but the hotel had an unpleasant feel and I wouldn't recommend it. On a Friday in late May, staff said it was nearly full, though we hardly saw anyone. The restaurant had no bar, and the hotel's only bar was closed for a private party, so the evening felt eerily quiet. Meanwhile, eight staff members stood around with nothing to do. Strange. The decor was dated, tacky, and unsettling, especially the garish gold and aqua bedrooms. The rest of the hotel looked much the same, and it didn't feel like a 5* place. Wires were hanging from ceilings in various spots, and the games room seemed frozen in the 1980s. If you're used to modern hotels with tasteful decor, I wouldn't stay here.

The service was perfect and the staff were friendly. I especially recommend the Diana building for its sea views, though the other buildings are nice too. There's access to a lovely beach nearby. Thank you! 🙏

The coffee was weak and flavorless, easily a 1/10, and that sums up how disappointing the stay felt. The design and atmosphere seemed mismatched and poorly thought out, with no sense of taste or care. Service was terrible throughout. The staff came across cold and unfriendly, as if guests were an inconvenience. When we asked about bringing pets, they refused in a blunt, rude, dismissive way, without any courtesy or effort to help. A no-pets policy might be okay if communicated reasonably. I would absolutely give Castello Mare zero stars if I could. This place just sucks, and I wouldn't recommend it.
