Gold Guest House

The grounds are lovely and the pool is fantastic, but the hosts at Gold Guest were distant and never checked whether we were comfortable or needed anything. We met plenty of kind, helpful people in the streets, minibuses, and taxis, who left us feeling positive and even invited us back next year. The hosts didn't give us that feeling. Our room was on the third floor and had a kitchen. With a small child, getting up there was inconvenient, so we asked to move to the first floor, where three double rooms share a kitchen. The owner would only agree if we paid the triple-room price, and wouldn't budge. The room itself was okay and the furniture wasn't old, but the sofa had a hole and was uncomfortable to sleep on. Everything hurt afterward. Breakfast at 7 lari seemed expensive for what they served. They could have given more food for that price, or even made it free. On our first day we ordered khinkali for lunch. They were torn and had hardly any meat, mostly just juice. I've never eaten worse, and it's a shame for Georgia to serve them that way. Later we ordered two hot dishes and khachapuri for dinner, then waited around two hours while the tables nearby finished eating. I thought I'd faint from hunger. After that, we only ordered coffee.

My family of five and I have spent every summer at the Gold Hotel since 2012, and we've been delighted with everything. I hope this will be our eighth visit. The food is excellent, the place works perfectly for a family holiday, and the hosts are very welcoming.
