Alpina Hotel

Saba and Amin were so kind and helpful, and really made the stay better. I was here for a ski trip in January and had an amazing time. The hotel is beautiful and well equipped, and everything felt comfortable and thoughtfully prepared. I’d definitely come back.

The breakfast comes with lovely mountain views, and the hotel has nice facilities. It’s well placed for skiing on and off the mountain, but quite far from the rest of town, so getting there means a taxi or a 30-minute walk. The staff were friendly, but things felt disorganized. Our dinner order was wrong every evening, even though we tried to make sure nothing got lost in the understandable language barrier. It felt like we were staying in Fawlty Towers! I doubt I’d stay here again in Gudauri.

Kate at reception made me feel at ease as soon as we arrived. She was warm and professional, answered all my questions patiently, offered help before I needed to ask, and made sure I was comfortable. Her kindness and attention made my stay feel personal and memorable, and she’s a wonderful representative of the hotel. Nick was just as outstanding at the bar. His hospitality, service, conversation, energy, and attention to detail made every visit there a highlight.

The view outside is mind blowing, and breakfast was great, with both local and English options. The hotel itself is very cosy, and the staff were courteous. When they heard we'd had a small problem in one room, they brought us wine on the house to make up for it. A few hotels might not even apologize, so that was much appreciated. The rooms are very small, though. Security staff are strict about the rules, and there isn't a shared space where we could sit together with our own drinks. They could get borderline aggressive about it. The walls are really thin, so please keep the noise down in the rooms.
