I felt relieved that I hadn't actually stayed here. As a solo traveller, my plans changed and I cancelled a booking that clearly said “FREE CANCELLATION ANYTIME.” I had even thought of booking again for a few days later. Right after I cancelled, the host sent threatening, completely inappropriate messages. That was alarming and unacceptable. If cancellations weren't welcome, the policy should have said so. I can't imagine how the owner might act in person if this is how they communicate online. I'd strongly advise other travellers, especially women, to avoid the place for their own safety.

I was visiting Georgia for the first time, and Holiday house made it one of my best days there. Mr Georgi and Mrs Georgi were the best hosts I've ever met. Their smiling care and the breakfast were among the best parts of my stay. If you want to experience Georgian hospitality, I'd recommend spending a few days at Holiday house. It's hard to put the whole experience into words!

The host is the heart of this place: cheerful, friendly, and incredibly helpful. He has a clean, comfortable car and can arrange airport transfers and personal tours around Kutaisi, Imereti, or the whole country. The breakfast was unforgettable. If you'd rather cook other meals yourself, the kitchen has all the necessary equipment, plus free coffee and tea around the clock. The guesthouse is next to the Botanical Garden, in a quiet part of the city with wonderfully fresh air, a lovely place to unwind after exploring. I spent a couple of nights here, enough to get to know the host and the place, and found it the most comfortable and homey guesthouse I've stayed at in Kutaisi. It also has the style of a real boutique hotel, and I've stayed in plenty of places.

We ended up extending our stay because we loved it so much. The owners, Giorgi and his wife, take care of the house and make sure guests are comfortable. Their breakfast was better than any restaurant we'd tried in Kutaisi. The garden and its different trees are beautiful when you arrive, and the house itself is lovely too. It's close to the center but in a peaceful area. If you're stopping in Kutaisi, make this your home and enjoy the culture and care this family shares.
