I ended up checking into the wrong Hotel Comfort. There are two in Kutaisi, and this one is about a mile from the center, unlike the other one. I’d booked through Booking.com, arrived by taxi, checked in, and paid. Then the manager asked me to cancel the Booking.com reservation and show him the payment amount. It seemed dodgy, so I ignored the cancellation request. Once I explained the mix-up, the other Hotel Comfort kindly chose not to pursue a fee. Be very careful with this hotel. Very dodgy.

The place feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, with a miserable view and a balcony that won’t open. In the bathroom, hair and dirt were all over the floor. Maybe I’m just not used to it, but having no glass partition between the shower and the rest of the bathroom seems absurd to me.

At this price, it’s hard to complain: the AC works perfectly, the bed is comfortable and clean, and the room has a working shower and toilet. You usually don’t get all three at this price.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the price seemed fair. We stayed just one night. At checkout, the owner pointed out a broken window blind, and we agreed to pay since it had been damaged during our stay. But the next day, the owner called our group of seven again, angry, and complained about damaged walls, rubbish supposedly left behind the kitchen (we hadn't even used it), and the shower hose being left on the floor. That last part was true: the toilet tank wasn't working, so I used the hose to flush. The owner called us “forest dwellings.”
