Villa Kardwell

We were able to walk to the nearby river for a swim, and there’s a restaurant close by too. The villa has a fully equipped kitchen, plus a washing machine guests can use for free. The bathroom is shared, but it was very, very clean. We stayed in the family’s country house in summer and felt warmly welcomed throughout. They were wonderfully generous, even refusing payment for breakfast though it wasn’t included. Their daughter speaks fluent English and gave us lots of useful tips about the area. A truly lovely stay, highly recommended.

The house had a lovely farm-like feel, and staying there felt like being with your grandma, with all that warmth and coziness. The owner is such a genuine, kind woman, and her care really made my day. I was very happy here, it was completely worth it.

The terrace looks out over a beautifully kept garden, and breakfast was served in a charming gazebo in Georgian national style. The owners were so hospitable, and the rooms, bathroom, and other amenities in the house were excellent. Everything felt wonderful, like childhood. Thanks so much!

We came as a family, my wife, our 1-year-and-4-month-old son, and me, and Villa Kardwell became the highlight of our month in Georgia. We kept extending our last-minute two-night booking, first by one night, then two, then another and another, until we’d stayed seven nights. We hated leaving, but had to move on before our visa expired. There were even tears at goodbye, which is rare these days. Teta Katino treated us like family, bringing us snacks and food and always making extra for our baby. The young boys in the family played with our son and shared their toys, and Eka was very accommodating when we asked to stay longer. Professor Alexandro invited me to watch the Olympic opener and picked figs and apples for us to take when we left. Everyone in the family was so sweet. Breakfast could feed a village. It was all fresh and homemade, with jams, eggs from their chickens, and cheese and milk from the neighbors’ cows. If you’re traveling as a family, I’d recommend coming here to rest for a while. It was a proper Georgian experience. You can walk down to the river for a dip, there’s a well for fresh drinking water at the house, and nice hammocks. And the sweetest dogs, Mimi and Patrick.
