We had some of the best food in Georgia here, and the hospitality was phenomenal. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot. The hosts let us leave some belongings while we went hiking for two days, then helped arrange a ride back to Telavi. We rode with the host’s husband, who drove safely and smoothly over the pass in foggy, wet conditions. We’ll definitely return!

Finding food in Omalo was tough for us, and after trying places over the years, Tishe became one we liked best. Tusheti itself is stunning, but getting there is very difficult and you should expect no luxury, or even business-class comforts. I’d come back to Tishe for the lamb khinkali alone. They’re stuffed with chopped, aromatic meat and lots of fresh herbs, with a little spice. The dough is thick and puffy, more homemade than the versions served in many restaurants. Khachapuri and salads are available too. The people are lovely and welcoming, and they make sure you leave satisfied.

We stopped here on our motorcycles and got a warm welcome from a lovely woman. After a long ride, the cozy atmosphere made it a great place to take a break. We had khinkali, chicken liver, and really good coffee. She also sells handmade wool things, from socks and gloves to toys and souvenirs. A nice spot for finding unusual gifts and supporting local makers. Definitely worth visiting in Omalo.

There’s a remarkably well-stocked shop here, with snacks, drinks including alcohol, local art and souvenirs, and sometimes freshly baked local biscuits. We also had dinner and breakfast, both plentiful, tasty, and varied. Our room was simple but clean, and the beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets to stay warm. There were USB-A sockets and a small shelf beside them for devices. The staff were very friendly, and between them they could speak fluent English, Russian, or Georgian. They can also connect you with a local, internationally renowned artist who runs traditional felt-making classes Friday to Sunday. Great value, highly recommended.

The views are stunning, the food is tasty, and the rooms and bathrooms are clean and good. Nights were quiet for us, though that can depend on the other guests. Eto and Ana were so welcoming and kind, and helped with whatever we needed. There’s a shop inside the Hostel where you can pick up extra food for a hike. Definitely good value for money. Thanks again, madloba didi 🤗 Ciao 🇬🇪
