Kazbegi View Guesthouse

The road up to Kazbegi View is very rocky, though that's not something the hotel can control. The room was as expected and everything worked fine. We booked a room facing the mountains and stayed two nights. Once we settled in and took in the amazing views, the place became unforgettable. Definitely recommend staying here.

The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was delicious with a fabulous view. We had a lovely stay in this warm, cozy, romantic place, especially in the rain. Our glacier-view room had an amazing sight of the mountain, glacier, and Gergeti church, both day and night. Worth staying here!

There were mosquitoes all over the place, the road to the cabin felt extremely dangerous, and we had no hot water or room service. The bathrooms had no bidets, and not every cabin has a view. Only three actually overlook the scenery. I also witnessed incidents that left me feeling the owners treated Arab and Russian guests in a racist way. The owner's wife showed an Arab family to a cabin, then came back moments later yelling that they'd stolen it. They calmly told her she was the one who had shown them the cabin and asked why she was shouting. She replied, “You Arabs are crazy,” then fetched her husband. He kicked them out so a European family could have the cabin, and moved them into a very poor-quality one instead. The next day, a Russian family with two children arrived and got a cabin. When they politely asked for more bread in the morning, they were told there was none, and the owner complained that the children were noisy. The father said they weren't making noise, but the owner shouted, “You are not welcome here!” The children started crying because of the shouting.

The only thing we liked was the view. The place seemed badly managed, and the pictures don't match the rooms we found. They may have been taken when the property was built, around five or six years ago. Some structures weren't even visible in them. The property looked run down. The walls were dirty and covered in marks, including spilled drinks and marks above my head. Some walls showed signs of leaks. There was no hot water during our stay, and the shower hose was broken, with part of its metal tubing missing and the black inner cable exposed halfway along. The bathroom smelled bad in the evening, first like fish and then food. I think water from the restaurant's drainage was traveling between the houses because the drainage seemed badly installed. The bathroom door wouldn't close, and the towel warmer leaked randomly and had broken parts. There was hair on the bed, and a spider web hung from the ceiling. There are plenty of other places around, so I'd avoid this one.
