Blossom hostel

The receptionist was nice, but his English was poor, so he couldn’t give me any recommendations. The place is very cheap, which helps if you want to save money, but the beds and facilities aren’t good enough. I rarely give one or two stars, but honestly I didn’t like it. If I visit Tbilisi again, I wouldn’t stay there.

The administrator was friendly, though he looked exhausted, almost like he was being held hostage there. The hostel itself looked very run down: the tables, chairs, kitchen, and just about everything seemed tired, and the walls were dirty, as if someone had walked on them. My friend and I were planning to stay overnight, but we were horrified by the condition and left without looking further. We were afraid to imagine what the rest might be like. Afterward, while checking Booking for other options, we saw the place listed again under three pages called Blossom and Shine, with different prices of 15 and 20 lari. The photos there look lovely, apparently from when the hostel first opened, but its current condition seems ten times worse. Given what some people have already written, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were bedbugs in the beds. I looked through the Booking reviews and saw that people had described the same situation a year ago. It seems the hostel manager wants to take money from guests without investing in the place, which is awful. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. At this point, sleeping on a bench seems easier.

For this hostel to earn five stars from me, it would need to clean 300% better, replace the thin grey bed linen and the old mattresses that are beyond saving, and make the place feel welcoming to travellers.

I felt safe at Blossom Hostel, and it had a nice family atmosphere. The prices were good, and the people were kind and helpful. I was travelling solo in Georgia a few weeks ago and stayed one night. The host was a hospitable Russian woman, Elena or Irina, sorry, I can’t remember which. Thanks for the chat, the great coffee, and the cookies. Greetings from Poland! :-)
