Corner Hostel

The location is amazing, and the rooms are spacious, but I found the bed uncomfortable and the pillows cheap. We had just one tiny blanket to share. There was dirty laundry in the bathroom and dirty cookware in the sink, so it didn’t feel welcoming. The owner was nice, though it felt like we were staying in his home. It seems many of the positive reviews are from before COVID, when someone else may have been running the place.

I’ve stayed in guest houses and hostels on many trips and have usually become friendly with the hosts, but this encounter felt aggressive and unsafe. I asked a simple question about whether the neighborhood was safe, just to get some information, and the owner got irritated. He told me he didn’t know or care and rudely said to call the police and ask. He then brought up that I live in the United Arab Emirates and that the Emirates are friends with the United States, saying he didn’t want to talk to me. I’m a solo woman traveler, and the way he spoke to me felt very strange and verbally harassing. I wouldn’t recommend this guest house, especially to women traveling alone from Asia, the Middle East, or the US.

We spent around four nights at Corner hostel in Tbilisi and felt comfortable and safe there. Miro gave us some lovely tours, and his father Giorgi was welcoming and easy to talk to. They helped make our time in Tbilisi memorable. They also have rooms for families. I’d recommend staying here.

I liked the place enough to come back a few months after my first visit. I was there twice last year during some pretty cold weather, and it was warm and cosy both times. The host was amazing, and the price for the quality was great. I’m sure I’ll stay here again next time I’m in Tbilisi.
