Margot Old Tbilisi Hotel

The location and views were the best parts of my stay, and the rooms, though a little small, were comfortable enough for a short visit. The restaurant service was average, and dining could work better for groups: the buffet setup felt too small for a large party and there seemed to be very few staff. More people on duty at busy times would help. Also, bring your own travel adaptor, since charging devices can otherwise be inconvenient. It was a decent stay, with service for group bookings in need of improvement.

We stayed over Christmas, and the decorations inside and outside were amazing. Our room had a wonderful river view. The manager, whose name I think was Tango, was especially friendly and helpful. There's also an exchange place right across from the hotel where you can get the best rate in Tbilisi.

Our money and a gold necklace worth around $1.5K disappeared from the room, and it was clear the housekeeper had gone through our things. Reception was initially kind and said they would pay us for the missing items, knowing we had a flight the following day. Then the next morning they brought in the police, opened an investigation, and said we couldn't leave the country unless we said the things had been “found.” We felt pressured and completely used. One of the worst travel experiences I've had. Please be careful.
