Metekhi Line Hotel

We chose this hotel for our family trip, October 2-7, after my mother passed away. My father, sister and I wanted time together, and picked a place in the Old City with a view, decent breakfast and, especially, a balcony we could share. Instead, the stay was upsetting from the start. At check-in we were put in a room without the balcony we had booked. The new receptionist said there was nothing they could do until the next day. We spent that day out in the city, then the evening receptionist brushed us off, saying we hadn't been there and it was now too late to fix the mistake. Were we meant to spend our vacation sitting in the lobby waiting for them? The alternatives were just as bad: a room with a child's bed for three adults, or splitting us into two rooms, which went against the whole point of the trip. When I explained, the manager told us on the phone that those were the only options, or we could check out. The hotel is on such a steep hill that we needed a taxi every time we went out or came back. Breakfast was disappointing too, with tired vegetables cut very coarsely and no willingness to make a simple omelet. I don't usually write reviews, but this was unacceptable. The low price doesn't make up for such uncaring, unprofessional service. Please don't stay here.

The hill is so steep that walking to or from the hotel isn't really possible, so expect to take a taxi for every trip. Breakfast was poor as well: the vegetables seemed old and were chopped badly, and they wouldn't make an omelet, only fried eggs. We booked for October 2-7 hoping for a family trip to recover after a hard year and my mother's death. We chose this hotel for the location, the advertised view and, above all, a balcony where we could spend time together. Instead, we were given a room with no balcony. The new night employee couldn't resolve it and told us to wait for a manager. When we came back the next day, staff blamed us for being away and said it was too late. After a long argument, the manager's final choice for us was to split into two rooms or check out. That ultimatum was shocking and unprofessional. The low price isn't worth this level of service. I hardly ever post reviews, but I want to warn people. Pay a little more for somewhere else and spare yourself this experience.

The location makes it easy to walk to most places, and for what you pay the rooms are clean, modern and nice. The staff are pleasant, room service and internet both work well. Breakfast doesn't have many choices, but with everything else being great, that wasn't a big deal.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a very convenient spot, and the complimentary breakfast was a lovely extra.
