My Hostel and Cooking House!

The hostel is pretty cramped, so it may not work for everyone. But for the price, it’s hard to beat: it’s right in the city center, with a metro and bus station within 200m. There’s a currency exchange and bakery 10m away, plus a convenience store just 2m away.

I knew it was extremely cheap and didn’t expect comfort, but there are limits. The mattresses are wrapped in plastic, maybe because of bedbugs, and they make a loud noise whenever you turn over. The hostel is dirty, and the kitchen doesn’t make you want to cook. I only expected a clean space. The shower and toilet are stacked one above the other, so the toilet gets soaked when you shower. The bathroom ceiling is so low that even I, though not very tall, would hit my head. Apparently the owners rent beds to homeless people to make money from them, and those guests really sleep in terrible conditions. I can’t recommend this place. No one should have to stay somewhere so indecent.

I’ve stayed here twice while in Tbilisi, and I keep coming back when I need a cheap bed near the Metro. There are lots of good restaurants and coffee shops nearby, along with interesting local sights, and the location is second to none. The women who run the place are sweet and helpful. It’s no Waldorf Astoria, but it’s a perfect place to crash.

There were lots of bedbugs, though for the price, it’s reasonable.
