Old Metekhi Hotel

I really liked the view, but the service left us feeling unwelcome. The girl who served us was cold and didn't smile. The food was edible, though definitely not the best. People won't want to return if customers aren't greeted with a smile.

We were a big group, and that made for a really fun night out with friends. The traditional Georgian food was delicious, and there was talented traditional dancing along with more modern music and a very good singer. We also tried some lovely Georgian wine, though it was very strong.

The view is stunning, and I'd come back for that alone. The restaurant itself is a typical Georgian place, with the sort of rude, poor service you might expect, plus a service fee. Even the coffee was awful, made with the cheapest, poorly roasted beans. The view is what makes it worth returning.

We walked out and found another restaurant just 20 metres away, with the same view, better prices, and much friendlier staff. That turned out to be a good call. At the first place, the room was nice, the view splendid, and the table was set well, but despite there being no rush and the room being empty, they insisted we order by QR code. I don't do that on principle, and they offered no other option. Being the first restaurant on the uphill route from a nearby tourist hotspot had already made me a little wary.
