Saint George Hostel

With so many hostels in Tbilisi, I wouldn’t recommend this one. The rooms are all far too cramped to move around in, and the place feels built to squeeze out as much profit as possible. You can’t drink your own beer in the kitchen, there are signs everywhere about what you’re not allowed to do, and there’s video surveillance in the kitchen. There are hardly any windows. It feels more like a prison than a hostel.

There’s no kitchen or laundry. The head volunteer, Nino, is often drunk, mutters, and is rude to both volunteers and guests. He often ignores people saying hello and sometimes has loud outbursts for reasons only he knows. A lot of us just left. For 10 lari, you can get a much more efficient and friendlier hostel.

The common areas are spacious and nice for spending time with other people. The hostel was clean, reasonably priced, and close to everything. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere in old Tbilisi.

For a one-night stop in Tbilisi on a budget, this place does the job. The price is fair and it’s clean, though a bit crowded. It has what you need for the night, including a bed, kitchen, shower, and internet. The location is fantastic.
