Soul Kitchen Hostel

After three nights, I was glad to leave, and my life felt positive again. ☺ The central location near Liberty Square was convenient, and they provided towels, lockers, and free coffee, tea, and sugar. The hostel felt dirty and sticky overall, despite the staff doing some superficial cleaning each day. There was mold on the bathroom walls, and one bathroom had no drain, so shower water flooded the floor. The tiny bathrooms and toilets had no shelves or hooks for belongings. The beds lacked lights and shelves, and only a few had phone charging sockets. Only the lower bunks had curtains, leaving the upper bunks without privacy. I wouldn't recommend it to female travelers. The hostel only had mixed dorms occupied by men, and I was the only female guest. Staff were generally unfriendly and unwelcoming. The worker from Ukraine (or wherever she's from) seemed to lack basic customer service skills, and couldn't manage a polite good morning or answer simple questions.

It really feels like home, and the strong community makes the name Soul kitchen fit. I had an amazing experience and would recommend this hostel if you're looking for a bit of peace between commitments.

The kitchen became the heart of our stay, a nice place to hang out and chat with other guests. It was well equipped with plenty of dishes, cutlery, pots, and pans, plus free coffee and tea. We also made use of the backyard to leave our touring bicycles. Staff and the owner were lovely and helpful from the moment we arrived, and the place felt like home. The hostel was kept clean and tidy, with constant attention to the kitchen and bathrooms, which always had enough soap and toilet paper. Before Soul kitchen, we stayed at two other hostels that were dirty and poorly maintained. In Tbilisi, it seems common for accommodation websites to show attractive pictures that don't match reality. We'd recommend going straight to Soul kitchen instead of spending time, money, and energy searching elsewhere.

Staff were kind and helpful, and the price was really cheap for such a central spot, within walking distance of the metro and old town. There were power sockets at every bed, and the beds themselves were okay. Cleanliness was a problem, though: the toilets were very moldy, the floor was wet, and there was strange gooey stuff in the sinks. The smoking area and back door were right outside the mixed dorm window, so it got loud and smoke came in when people stood outside talking.
