Sharp Guest House

WiFi was the one real letdown: it didn’t work in my room, so I had to go to the lobby. The staff tried to fix it, but couldn’t, even though there’s an internet café. Otherwise, Sharp Guest House was a good stay for the price, right in central Osu beside oxford street. It’s a busy area, as you’d expect in Osu. The outside doesn’t look especially fancy, but my room was clean and smelled fresh. The fence and AC both worked well, there was no mold smell, and staff were friendly. I got fresh towels and toilet paper whenever I needed them. It’s not luxury, but I’d stay again.

I booked a single room online for two days, then extended my stay by one day. The receptionists, including Annette and Abraham, were friendly and gave me useful tips for getting around Accra. The rooms were quiet and tidy, with clean bathrooms, a fridge, table, roughly 42-inch TV, and comfortable beds. WiFi was fast, and I didn’t see any roaches. I also stayed in a four-bedroom room during the three days. The single room had no window and felt a little stuffy, though the AC worked perfectly. I was told the window had been blocked to reduce noise. It was already booked for my extra day, so I moved to a larger room at a higher price; that one had a window. The restaurant could be better, and there aren’t many rooms, so book early. Reception also serves as the cyber café, which wasn’t much of a problem for me. For the price range, I think it’s ahead of other Accra hotels. Tell taxi drivers Sharpnet rather than Sharp Guest House, since Sharpnet Internet Cafe seems to be the better-known name for the same place.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they make a real effort to keep the rooms clean. Still, I noticed some insects, including ants and spiders. WiFi is just okay, not especially fast, and it disconnected sometimes. The hotel is in a lively area, so it won’t suit you if you’re after somewhere quiet.

The place felt safe, with CCTV cameras around and security around the clock. I booked a room for my guest from Canada, and he loved it. It’s not far from the airport, with clean rooms and a good location close to Osu Danquah Circle. Prices are better than at similar places nearby.
