Raffin Royal Lodge

It’s a quiet place to relax and unwind in a very quiet town, though there isn’t much else to do. Breakfast is available, but you’ll need to find lunch and dinner elsewhere. You can arrange a boat across the river for a fee. Parts of the lodge are still under construction, and there’s no signage, though Google Maps gets you there accurately. The road is rough, so make sure your vehicle is in good shape.

Sly was always just a phone call away and really helpful. Raffin Lodge felt like a little slice of heaven, a home from home. The river view was unmatched and helped me reset my head. My room was very clean, with a perfectly firm bed, and the bathroom had modern fixtures, a bath, and a shower. Watching fishing boats, ducks, and swifts move along the river made for a tranquil day, with lush vegetation all around. The road from Adomi Bridge was more adventure than I needed. Some stretches were challenging, and you’d want a 4 x 4 to get through comfortably. Bring snacks too. There’s a bar and breakfast is provided, but other food has to be ordered in or self-catered. I ate on the south side of the river, where there are plenty of restaurants. I saw a boat taking people back and forth from next door, so there may be a shuttle. Ask Sly. I’ll be back regularly for sure.

I felt safe, and the grounds were well kept. My room was beautiful, with hot water, a bathtub, and air conditioning. The view is peaceful, and the service was excellent. The place is still being renovated, with some unfinished sections of the main building. There’s a shared full kitchen in the common area where you can cook or ask for help, but they don’t offer food, so bring your own. Drinks are available at the bar, and sometimes they play music.

The owner was really rude, and it’s far from everything. There’s no Wi-Fi or food. Still, it’s perfect for relaxing.
