The staff made the stay feel special, and the food was really good. Just tell them how you like it. The manager had useful ideas for things to see nearby. For trips to the lighthouse or river, ask paa kwesi, the gardener. He was an excellent, memorable guide. The beach is beautiful, long, and clean, and the huts are tidy too. The garden is spotless and full of coconut trees. Thanks for a lovely stay. We’ll definitely be back.

The food is freshly made each time, and they take special requests into account. I haven’t had that kind of attention anywhere else on my trip. The owner and staff are so warm and kind that you soon feel like part of the family. The Akwidaa Inn is tucked away somewhere wonderfully quiet, with cozy cabins furnished with lovely little details. And the beach is a real highlight, fine pale sand beneath the palms and very clean water, unlike many other spots along the coast. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The place felt sad and unwelcoming, and I found it hard to relax there. The hotel also showed clear signs of neglect and poor maintenance. I recently stayed here and came away disappointed by what seemed like a lack of proper management. The owner seemed unhappy and uninterested in running the place. He tried to be polite, but I got the impression that money and good reviews mattered more to him than making guests feel welcome. The atmosphere seemed to reflect that lack of care, and I struggled to enjoy my stay. I can’t honestly recommend the hotel unless there are major changes to the management or attitude. A hotel should feel like a home away from home, but this one felt like it was run by someone who had lost interest in offering that kind of experience.

The setting right by the sea was a real highlight for us after several weeks traveling through Ghana, especially if you’re after adventure and an authentic experience. The staff were friendly and worked hard to make our stay pleasant. The chef deserves a mention too, with excellent freshly caught fish and special requests handled as well. There’s no air conditioning, and some people may miss familiar amenities, though the Wi-Fi was surprisingly good. We had some confusion at first over extra taxes on our Booking.com reservation. The manager was friendly and sorted it out quickly and professionally, showing us a clear bill breakdown and giving us a corrected invoice. If you’re looking for luxury, somewhere else may suit you better. If the surroundings, warm hospitality, and an authentic trip are what matter to you, you’ll enjoy staying here.

A walk into the village is worth it for the bustle around the old wooden bridge over the river mouth. The townspeople are still waiting for local politicians to deliver on a promised vehicle bridge, which would spare four-wheel-drive vehicles a 1.5-hour detour on a terrible road. The canoe trip through the mangroves is also worth doing. You might spot monkeys, and you’ll certainly see crabs and birds of prey. I visited in January 2021. It’s a great retreat from the noise and constant connection, with a simple, natural feel. The staff are friendly, though a bit complacent, and after three days I was tired of having the same three freshly prepared meal choices.
