Homey Lodge

The room service team was the bright spot of my second stay. They were excellent and did more than expected to make me comfortable. The rest of the experience was let down by management and reception. When the water cut off during my shower, it took almost an hour after I reported it for someone to bring a bucket to my room. That was completely unacceptable. The internet was also so poor I couldn't handle my work emails, and asking reception for Wi-Fi access again seemed to annoy them, even though Wi-Fi is advertised. On match day, local patrons had taken over the rooftop bar to watch football, with no thought for paying guests. When I raised it, the manager told me to watch TV in my room, despite the rooftop bar being an advertised amenity. I also had to wait while Henry and his girlfriend used the guest laundry and ironing room for their own clothes. Her outfit was unsuitable for a shared guest space, and the delay made me late for appointments. They acted as if they were doing me a favour instead of recognizing the inconvenience. The manager and receptionist Henry were rude and unprofessional. Staff spoke to guests too casually, without the decorum you'd expect in a hotel. Housekeeping deserves credit, but management and the front desk need serious improvement.
