Sunbeach Hotel and Resort

There was plenty of room to swim, sunbathe, or sit with a drink at this well-run all-inclusive resort. It’s on a quiet Atlantic beach, the grounds are clean and well kept, and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The self-service restaurant offered lots of choices at every meal, with no repeats during the week. The entertainment was pretty standard for this kind of resort.

We used the taxi service outside the hotel to get to local attractions like the monkey park. Prices were set by destination and good value, so there was no need to haggle, and the money also goes to local people. On the beach, try to buy at least one drink from Imbrahim and the fruit presser collective. The drinks are tasty, and buying from them makes a real difference. They can also arrange great tours. My family and I had a fantastic, relaxing stay at Sunbeach Hotel, and I’d recommend it. The staff were friendly and good at their jobs, the food was much better than I expected, and we had three or four main options for lunch and dinner without any repeats over the seven days. The usual resort entertainment was fun and worth watching. Our room was clean and nice, and WiFi worked everywhere in the hotel.

The people made the stay for me. The staff’s kindness and care felt natural, not forced, and I’ve travelled a lot without wanting to return to the same place twice. This is the first time I’d truly like to come back, as long as the team stays the same. Special thanks to the animators Aminata, Amadou, Mohamed, Fatima, and Suliaman for their warmth, professionalism, and energy. I’m still dancing even though I’m home now ;) The food was varied, and I was always satisfied. Breakfast had sweet choices, eggs cooked different ways, local dishes and other meats, full English options, oatmeal, waffles, plus fresh vegetables and fruit every day. Lunch and dinner always had several meat dishes and vegetarian options, so I don’t understand the negative comments I’ve seen about the food. Sunbeach’s location right on the cape was fantastic, with beautiful sunsets and direct access to a private beach where it was easy to relax in peace. There was a volleyball court and a gym too. The area felt safe enough that two girls could go out alone to exchange money and shop. Local guides near the hotel were friendly and respectful. The rooms were cleaned daily, and you could request anything you needed. Service was attentive and reliable. There was a daily schedule of activities and entertainment, something many other hotels we compared before and after arriving didn’t offer. I had an amazing stay, and it exceeded my expectations. Thanks to the whole team for making it so special.

The staff are what made the stay so memorable. Everyone was kind and attentive, and they went out of their way to make us feel at home. Big Joe and Phillip always smiled and greeted us at the breakfast waffle station, Ida was so welcoming at the Bambo bar, and Lamin from the restaurant made sure we were doing well with his excellent hospitality. I didn’t catch the omelet cook’s name, but she was warm, always smiling, very skilled, and made some of the best omelets I’ve had. The buffet had a great range of food, with different dishes each evening. Gambian night was my favorite, especially for the delicious local food. The two pool areas were both great: one lively main pool and a smaller, quieter one. Drinks at the Bambo bar were delicious, and the location let us enjoy both sunrises and sunsets. Our room was clean and comfortable, with good air conditioning and reliable Wi-Fi. From the moment we arrived, the kind, professional staff made us feel welcome. Thanks for an amazing stay, it’s the kind of place you don’t want to leave.
