Auberge de la Vieille Tour

It got boring once I’d finished eating. There isn’t much for guests to do besides lounge by the pool or beach, so they could add some entertainment or activities. The food could also be improved. It’s a lovely place otherwise.

We picked this spot because it’s only about 15 minutes from the airport, even though it’s on a busy road. We stayed both before and after a boat trip in Guadeloupe and really enjoyed it. Breakfast came with plenty of choices, and there’s a small beach and a pool with a cafe. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, though the hotel could use some updates. Good value in Guadeloupe.

Service was terrible. This doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel at all. At check in, the receptionist refused to bring a baby crib up to our room when we arrived at 11pm, and I had to insist. At checkout, there was nobody to help with luggage. The hotel is built on a hill with lots of stairs, and the luggage staff don’t arrive until after 2pm. We only found that out after calling three times, even though checkout is at noon. So basically, they aren’t there to help with checkout. After hauling our bags up all those floors in the heat and sweating, there wasn’t even water offered in the lobby.

The location is great, and depending on the building, you might get a lovely ocean view. It’s an old hotel with a nice vintage style. The rooms are a good size, with two twin beds pushed together, a TV, and a clean bathroom with a toilet. Staff were OK.
