Hôtel La Maison Créole

Breakfast was phenomenal, wow. Everyone made an effort to help us understand things and enjoy ourselves. The staff were unbelievably friendly and helped those of us who don’t know French as well understand how to stay safe and get around. They went out of their way to help us find the places and things we needed. When the ferry ran out of tickets, they even let us stay another night at the same rate. I wish we’d stayed longer. Everyone, right down to housekeeping, was amazing. One housekeeper even gave me private French lessons after her shift. She turned out to be from Dominica, like me. This is where we saw the most of Guadeloupe, and we fell in love with the country.

Our flight was cancelled, so we booked this room at the last minute. I definitely would have chosen somewhere else. Small insects were all over the room, and the walls were so thin we could hear noise from the next room and the hallway. Also, the concierge knocked on our door at midnight while we were asleep to ask our names. Apparently the check in system had an error and our room allocation was entered incorrectly. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We’re glad we ended up here. It’s clean, friendly, and affordable, though not a traditional five star hotel. What earned it five stars from us was the warm receptionist, who treated us kindly when an unexpected travel problem came up.

Nice rooms with a kitchen and refrigerator, and there’s a nice swimming pool too. The location is far from the beach, so it’s a place for guests with a car.
