Cretan Sun

The room was spacious and comfortable for four of us, with two separate rooms and a small kitchen. Breakfast was okay, and it gave the kids a few options. The hotel is close to the beach, restaurants, and a Lidl shop. The cleaning itself was excellent whenever the cleaner came, but the schedule was odd: it was once every two days, the check-in day didn’t count, and cleaning stopped three days before we left. We visited with family in mid July. My biggest issue was the location right by the main street. It was fine during the day, but the cars and motorcycles at night were a nightmare. The rooms aren’t soundproof, and there was often loud noise around the pool and bar late in the evening, after 11 pm, which was uncomfortable. Air-conditioning cost an extra 5 eur/day. I can’t imagine staying there without it.

The water supply was a regular problem. Showering took ages because the flow was slow and stopped completely several times. The receptionist said they knew about it and couldn’t do much. The bathroom was unhygienic, and the hotel felt outdated. If you get a road-facing room, sleep may be impossible: the old windows don’t block sound, and the room is 5-10 meters beside the highway. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families with kids.

Our room was 101, on the road side, though all the rooms are close to the pool. The food and drink were delightful, and the hotel was near the strip and the beach. We spent a lovely time relaxing by the pool. Minos and his family run the hotel. He always had time for everyone and was happy to help with any questions. The cleaners changed the beds and towels and cleaned our room every two days. They were always pleasant and chatted with us whenever they passed by the pool.

The spacious rooms were comfortable, and the air-conditioning worked perfectly. I also loved the pool, which was a nice place to relax and have fun. Breakfast felt lovingly made, with delicious Cretan food that gave us a taste of local culture. The receptionists were warm and friendly, and really tried to make sure everything went well during our stay. I had such a great time that I’ve decided to come back next summer. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Crete.
