Trikala River House

This small boutique hotel is right in central Trikala, in a handy spot. The room felt new, modern, bright, and comfortable, with a lovely bed and a very clean bathroom. The staff were kind and helpful. There’s customer parking about a 10-minute walk away, which worked well. Given that it’s in the city center, I understand why it can’t be closer. Breakfast was the downside: you have to go to their other hotel a little farther along the road, and there’s no buffet or much choice, just bread, jam, cheese, and turkey. Update: they can bring it to your room, nicely packed.

The staff were always ready to answer questions and help with anything we needed. The room was a good size for the price, and the service was great. The parking lot is a bit of a walk away, but there’s plenty of room outside the hotel to stop, park, and unload. If you’re fine with the walk, it’s convenient, and you won’t need a car to get around the city. I’d strongly recommend it and would definitely return to Trikala.

The location was a real highlight during our three-night stay in Trikala. The bus station is about 10 minutes away by small minibus, and there are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The rooms are a little small, so families should book a family room. Breakfast is served at Hotel Panellinion, another hotel a short walk away. It was continental style, but enough for us. Both women at reception were friendly and helpful, especially Maria. We were pleased with the stay. Thanks.

The location made getting around easy. Buses to and from Kalampaka and Kastraki stop just a short distance from the hotel, and supermarkets and restaurants are nearby. The family who run it, the receptionists, and the rest of the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. They spent more than an hour helping us plan the next day’s trip to Meteora, including bus services to and from Kalampaka. Reception is open 24/7, too. The rooms were very clean and easy to access. The family-run hotel really surprised us in the best way.
