The location was great, close to the bus stop, and the beach was beautiful, clean, and lovely for swimming. Our unit was serviced every day, which we appreciated. Dimitris was very attentive and glad to help. The mattresses and pillows were a bit hard and thin, though, and could have been softer.

The rooms had all the amenities you’d expect in a hotel, and breakfast came every day in huge portions. The family were lovely and made us feel so well looked after. We had a great time and can’t wait to return!

We used to enjoy this as a quiet family holiday spot with direct beach access, but that’s changed under the new owner. The hotel’s shady veranda, where guests could sit and chat during the day, has been taken over by day visitors paying for sunbeds and food from the Santana beach club. Five rows of umbrellas and sunbeds now fill the area in front of the hotel, leaving little room for parents and small children to play in the sand. Sunbeds cost 35 euros for the first row and 25 euros for the others, and the food is trash. The beach club’s loud techno music starts around 2pm and carries on late into the night and early morning. It kept many guests in Agia Anna awake and made it impossible to focus on a book. The new owners seem interested only in money from day visitors, with no concern for hotel guests. There’s just one person cleaning all the rooms, which clearly isn’t enough. I can’t recommend the place now. It no longer suits families or anyone looking for a quiet holiday and an authentic Greek atmosphere.

After five summers at Castello, it’s sad to see what’s changed. The new owners doubled the prices overnight without improvements or renovations, then made the place worse by putting in five rows of sunbeds. Our children used to play in the shaded garden and on the sand down to the water. Now the beds get in the way, block the sea view from the once peaceful garden, and have taken away the space for kids to play. They feel like an extension of the beach bar next door, which now plays trashy music. Kir Yiannis, the original owner who built Castello, sadly died almost four years ago. I’m sure he’d be sad to see this. So sad. Avoid!

We had everything we needed in a clean, comfortable room, and Tony and Antonis were great hosts. The hotel’s courtyard was a lovely spot to watch the sunset. It’s in a beautiful location, just 10 steps from the sea, and the view from an upper-floor room was amazing.
