Sofia and her family were welcoming and knew the area well. She made lots of suggestions for places to visit, and everything worked out exceptionally well. Breakfast was amazing, with homemade cakes and sweets. Our room was very good value, and the balcony had a stunning sunset view. The local beach, with clear water and fine golden sand, was under ten minutes away on foot, and Plaka was a five minute drive. Fabulous location and host. We’d definitely stay at Naxos Mare again and hope to return soon 😁

The room’s balcony looked over the pool and sea, a lovely place for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The sunsets, with the sky turning pink and orange, felt like magic. Sophia was warm, kind, and helpful, and even arranged a day trip to Koufonisia, one of our vacation highlights. Her parents were just as friendly, greeting us with a smile whenever we passed and making us feel like family. Food and drinks were available on request at reasonable prices, and everything we tried was delicious and clearly made with care. Agia Anna, with turquoise water and soft sand, is a few minutes away by car or a longer walk. It has a peaceful, disconnected feel. Naxos Mare gave us a real taste of Greek hospitality, and we’d love to return.

An angry man spoiled the stay. I think he was the owner, and he should treat guests better. The downstairs WiFi didn’t work at all, even on my phone with international roaming. He blamed too many people using it. There was a smart TV, but no batteries in the remote, and without WiFi it was useless anyway. One bedroom’s air conditioning didn’t work, and they still hadn’t fixed it after a full week. The power also went out. What prompted this review was asking the cleaners if I could hose down my car. They said yes and even gave me a sponge, which made me happy. Then the angry old man came over, waving his arms and saying I shouldn’t use the water. Just not good enough.

I didn’t stay here, but I did try the restaurant. The Naxos Mojito was pure perfection, the best mojito I’ve ever had. The Greek pizza was just as good. I’d definitely come back.
