Irida Mindful Living

The room upgrade to a sea-view apartment was worth it. We had a fantastic view, especially from a higher floor, though getting there meant climbing several flights of steps. I also loved starting the day on the outdoor gym bike while watching the sunrise. We’d happily return to Irida after a relaxing stay. The staff really set the tone. Everyone, from housekeeping to reception, the restaurant and the bar, was warm, hardworking and quick to help. We got a lively welcome, and a couple of small problems were sorted out fast. Room service and poolside service were reasonably priced, and the food and drinks were great. There were plenty of places to sit and sunbathe. Both pools were rather cold, but a refreshing break from the sun. Kids used both pools; they were respectful and not too noisy, though it wasn't ideal when we wanted a quiet rest. Breakfast had fresh food and a decent choice, from continental options to cooked dishes, with a lovely sea view from the dining area. The hotel is fairly well placed, with a couple of beach areas about a 10-15 minute walk away. The local main beach is very narrow, and I think two sunbeds cost €10 per couple. It has a nice atmosphere, with lots of places to eat and shops. The water was clear and still fine for swimming and snorkeling in October. You can follow the rocks to a viewpoint at the end. One surprise was that the jacuzzi and small sauna cost €20 for 20 minutes. I found that steep, and think access to these smaller spa facilities would be better included with the stay, perhaps through a booking system. I understand paying for massages. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The bus to Hereklion stops right outside and costs €4 each way; it was spacious, comfortable and cool inside. We also rented a car for €33 a day from a straightforward company in the village, a 10-minute walk away.

We've stayed here two years running and are already planning another trip. The view is stunning, and the location is beautiful. The spa and massage treatments were so good, too. Angela and Chris at the bar deserve a special thank you. They went out of their way and made the holiday extra special for me and my fiancée. The reception team was just as helpful, always doing their best to make our stay great. The service from everyone is amazing. Can't wait to come back!

We had such a good stay again, and there'll be plenty more visits. The hotel is full of fun little interactions, and Katharina and Nikos always make us feel like we're visiting family. see you! Breakfast has plenty of delicious choices, and the breakfast team is attentive and lovely. I especially enjoyed the daily Greek lessons with Angela. Michaelis/Mike is always glad to see us, remembers how many people we want to sit with, and does his best to meet every need. We also got a private tour of the rooms with Petra to see whether we'd like to book the hilltop room next time. I think we will. The hotel seems to get more beautiful each time we visit, but it's the people who give it its soul. They make you feel at home from day one. Check-in was warm and wonderful, and Vasillis has an amazing knack for remembering everyone's name right away. He showed us to our room and explained how everything in the room and hotel works.

The hotel facilities were great, and we had a lovely stay. The staff were really nice, and our room was spacious, clean and very pleasant.
