Palio Eleotrivio Guesthouse

The location is good, the hotel is nicely decorated, and the bed is comfortable. But the room was very dark, with just two floor lights and a couple of table lights. There’s no air conditioning, the windows have no blinds, and the curtains don’t give enough privacy. The shower didn’t work properly, with no pressure at all and no hot water. Breakfast was tasty but had little variety, and serving it only until 10.30 feels quite early when you’re on holiday.

The guesthouse sits beneath a majestic plane tree beside a gentle river, with birds singing and little Ben, the adorable dog, sleeping peacefully in the shade. A few friendly cats wandering the veranda add to the calm, natural surroundings. It’s a rare sort of serenity. Mrs. Spiridoula and Mrs. Evangelia are genuinely warm and welcoming, always ready to go above and beyond, and their hospitality really touched us. Inside, the rooms are spacious, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The building has been fully renovated while still carrying centuries of history, and every detail shows care, taste, and respect for tradition. We’ve been visiting Pilion for over 20 years, and this is the most exceptional guesthouse we’ve ever stayed in. We’ll undoubtedly return again and again. We rarely write reviews, but it would feel wrong not to share our appreciation for this special place and its wonderful hosts. The sound of the river right beside the building, especially with the windows open, was so calming alongside the fireplace. Our room was spacious, with a lovely mix of stone and wood, and they brought plenty of firewood every day. Breakfast was excellent too. I especially recommend Spiridoula's pies and omelette, and there was a good selection of delicious jams. Christos was a great help throughout our stay, even picking us up from where we had parked the car on our first day.

The village is beautiful, which makes up for how isolated it is. Getting there can be difficult during heavy snow, though. We arrived without a car, and the friendly, helpful staff came to collect us from the nearest village. Palio Eleotrivio is a lovely place to spend winter nights.
