The host was warm and inviting, and kindly helped us arrange a taxi from the bus station. The room was large, the bed was comfortable, and it had the cooking basics. For the area, the price was so good. The location is hard to beat, with the beach just down the road and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The bathroom caused us a lot of trouble. The pipes made loud, strange noises, the sink wouldn’t plug properly so the water wouldn’t drain, and the shower had no screen, soaking the whole bathroom floor, toilet, and sink. There was no hook for the showerhead, so you had to hold it while washing, and hot water lasted only about two minutes before turning cold. Noise was the other big problem, though it might be specific to our room at the front by the road. Cars, motorcycles, and voices were very loud because the room had poor soundproofing. We could also hear people coming and going inside the building, and even showers and toilet flushes in other rooms. We couldn’t get to sleep before midnight without being woken up straight away. I feel bad complaining when the host was so welcoming, but those two issues really affected our stay and need attention. It’s still a great budget room in a perfect location, but keep these things in mind before booking.
