Breakfast was just okay, and the WiFi was mediocre. Still, the staff were pleasant and I thought it was a good hotel overall. I stayed in a superior room on the fourth floor, with a balcony and a wonderful sea view. The beds were good, and there were facilities for making coffee and tea, plus a small fridge. The balcony has no cover, so after a thunderstorm it flooded. Rain also caused a problem with my shower.

The hotel is a bit old, but it has an 80s feel and charm that I liked. I’d love to come back someday and stay in that best room again. Last year we had our best vacation ever at El Greco. The curly-haired girl who welcomed us and showed us to our room was fantastic and very kind. She also booked us a table at a local restaurant with a nice view, and made the stay really pleasant. Milos and Ana wish you all the best!

The room cleaning had a strange effect: the team switched off all the electricity afterward, so the fridge was warm by the end of the day. The air conditioning also cost extra, €8 per day per person, which came to €112 for two people for a week. The bathroom was tiny, with a shower cubicle around 60x60cm that had no door. It was hard to fit in, and water ended up all over the small toilet area. The rooms were old and in bad condition. Breakfast was included but modest, served in a backyard with no sunshine. We weren’t allowed to take even a cup of coffee to the front yard to watch the sunrise. The old woman at reception was dead, old and clearly knew nothing about customer service. This was the worst hotel we’ve stayed at in Greece, across eight trips to the country.

The room itself was a problem: it smelled stale, the furniture was old, and I couldn’t open both sides of the balcony door fully to air it out. The air conditioner’s outdoor unit was at the bottom of the balcony, making it impossible to sit on the terrace while it was running. In my case the view was partly of the sea, and like the garden view rooms, it came with a lot of the negative experiences. The location is good, as are the younger reception staff, the breakfast staff, and the women working in the kitchen and dining room. Breakfast was modest, but the ingredients were fresh and good quality. They served traditional Greek sweets and kept replenishing the food. I also had a bad experience with the old lady at reception, who was extremely rude despite her fake smile. The maids were bad too, and stole olive oil and honey from the closet. It’s a shame, because this could be a great three star hotel. It needs a complete renovation, the old lady at reception should retire, and they need new maids. If you can’t get a room with a sea view, which seemed more decent, don’t come here.

The location is the hotel's biggest asset. It's in the city centre, with a sea view and beaches just a minute away. That makes up for a lot, but the rest was bad. There was water all over the bathroom when we arrived. They called a plumber and it was fixed within two hours, but nobody apologized. The pillow had blood on it and hadn't been cleaned, there were cockroaches in the bathroom that we had to kill, and the light in the middle of the room didn't work. Breakfast was very bad, with few choices and no eggs cooked properly. It wasn't very clean either. They deserve two stars, because it felt like they didn't care or try to improve.
