Miramare Resort & Spa Hotel

The hillside is steep, so this might be tricky for anyone with mobility issues. We’re fairly fit and managed fine. We loved the sea views and the easy 15 to 20-minute walk into town along the waterfront. We had an all-inclusive stay at Miramare and the food was good, with a varied selection. There were no chicken nuggets, pizza, or chips while we were there, which suited us. We’d rather try Greek specialties, and there was always fish as well as meat. Our suite had a private pool, a spacious room with lots of storage, and a fantastic terrace and pool with great views. More power sockets and a full-length mirror would have helped. The holiday was fabulous. Night porter, reception, and restaurant service were all fantastic, especially Manolis the bar manger. We’d definitely recommend the hotel and would return.

The food did include a lot of chicken, pork, and fish, but they prepared it in different ways and had a wide selection of sides. We loved our stay. The hotel and views were amazing, and we weren’t sure what to expect when we booked, but it didn’t disappoint. I’d suggest booking a room with a private pool and taking the 4x4 safari with the safari club to visit the creten villages up in the mountains.

The food was atrocious, overcooked slop that was left to go cold. Our room was very basic, and the bathroom drains stank. For a supposed beachside hotel, you have to walk down a steep drive to reach the beach. There’s a dilapidated pepple beach five minutes away on foot, or a 15-minute coastal walk the other direction to a sandy beach. The location feels in the middle of nowhere, with no public transport and nothing to do. I also felt the hotel was trying to rip off tourists: €10 a day in tourist tax even though it should only be a 3* hotel, €30 a week for the safe deposit key, €50 for late checkout, and €25 an hour for the indoor spa pool. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I’m surprised jet2 use it, and I won’t book with them again. I won’t be going to Greece again either.

It’s a decent traditional hotel, but I’d call it three stars. They say it’s modern and luxurious, and I don’t think either claim is true. For a four-star hotel, it doesn’t deserve that last star.
